Fees
Fee Breakdown for Form I-485:
- Form I-485 Filing Fee: The base filing fee for Form I-485 is $1,225 (as of July 2024). This fee covers the processing of your application for adjustment of status to lawful permanent resident (green card holder).
- Biometrics Fee: A separate biometrics fee of $85 is required for most applicants. This fee covers the cost of conducting a background check, including taking your fingerprints, photograph, and signature at a USCIS Application Support Center (ASC).
- Form I-765 (Optional): If you wish to apply for employment authorization while your Form I-485 is pending, you can file Form I-765 (Application for Employment Authorization). The filing fee for Form I-765 is $550 (as of July 2024).
- Form I-131 (Optional): If you need to apply for advance parole (permission to travel outside the United States and return while your Form I-485 is pending), you can file Form I-131 (Application for Travel Document). The filing fee for Form I-131 is $575 (as of July 2024).
